About the Author

Francesca is a university graduate with a degree in English Literature. She is currently living at her family home in the West Midlands with her cat to save money for her impending travels around the globe.

As a first-time solo female traveller, she is very aware that it can be daunting and nerve-wracking at the best of times. However, with careful planning and a lot of informed advice, there is no reason why solo female travelling can’t be rewarding and absolutely thrilling! Her novice’s guide to planning a backpacking trip around New Zealand and the South Pacific will demonstrate how the best way to shake the nightmare that you’ll end up in a ditch is to NOT leave planning to the last-minute. In fact, plan, and then plan some more until you feel moderately calm again.

As a beginner, she doesn’t really know what she’s doing, but with the help of some well-informed professional advice, she hopes to create a successful survival guide to making it across the globe on your own for the first time without getting lost. She is also well aware that no amount of careful planning can prepare you for the reality of the experience so it’s probably best to cross your fingers all the same.
